Go Browns!

The kids seemed to be in a pretty good mood this morning, and since the Browns are playing their last preseason game tonight, they were all wearing their Browns gear. I figured this was as good a time as any to get some portraits of them. I even broke out the background for these!

Juli always has to add her own little flair to her outfit.

KJ is a great model. He hardly ever changes his expression while I'm photographing him.

Unfortunately this means I have less pictures of him than I do of the girls.

This was KJ's idea of changing his expression.

Sometimes test shots are the best shots.

The Sunflower and the Hummingbird

Earlier this year we planted some sunflowers outside of our kitchen window. It took them a while to bloom, but they finally did over the past couple of days. I've been watching them and taking pictures here and there over the last couple of days.

Today I noticed some bees doing their thing around the flowers, so I grabbed my camera and caught a couple of shots. This is one of the better ones.

After a couple of shots the bees left. I guess I was a bother to them. A few minutes later I went back to the flowers to see if any of them had returned, and I was very surprised to see a hummingbird darting from flower to flower. I've never even seen a hummingbird before. I mean, maybe in a zoo or something, but never anywhere near our house.

Thanks to the bees, I just happened to have my camera at the ready, with the right lens and settings all ready to go.

Now if you'll excuse me, I think I should go play the lottery.

Impromptu Portraits

I picked up a new lens yesterday and while I was testing it out I captured a few quick portraits of the kids. I really liked how they turned out in black & white. I'm kicking myself now for not setting up a background.

 

Portraits at the Castle

Yesterday was such a beautiful day I decided to take the kids to a local castle for some portraits. The kids did their best to thwart my efforts to get a good picture of the three of them. While these photos might not be perfect as far as portraits go, they do show how different each of the triplets' personalities are.
